TAE Plus and Holistic Educator Wellbeing.
Cristina is a Mental Health & Wellness Specialist and the TAE Plus Wellness Curriculum Designer.
An advocate for educator wellbeing, Cristina brings a deeply human perspective to teaching and learning. Her approach goes beyond compliance and curriculum, focusing on the emotional and psychological dimensions that shape both educators and learners.
When asked about her journey so far, Cristina reflects:
“My journey into mental health and wellness has been deeply shaped by both lived experience and professional experience. I’ve worked across high-pressure environments, such as corporate settings, community support, coaching, and emergency service volunteering – and what I’ve consistently seen is that people don’t just need skills – they need safety, meaning and support.”
Her interest in the psychology of teaching grew from observing how stress, trauma, self-doubt and burnout affect learners.
“So often, learners aren’t just trying to absorb information – they’re also managing what’s happening internally. Anxiety, overwhelm, past experiences of failure, or simply the pressure of life.”
Cristina believes that learning is as much emotional as it is intellectual.
“People can only engage, take risks and grow when they feel safe, supported and seen. That’s where the psychology of teaching becomes so powerful.”
This insight led her to specialise in helping educators create environments where learners feel supported and empowered.
“The best educators don’t just deliver content, they create conditions where people feel safe enough to learn, grow and believe in themselves again.”
Cristina has observed a shift in education, particularly following the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Learners are arriving with higher levels of anxiety, disconnection and emotional fatigue. At the same time, educators are under pressure to meet compliance standards, deliver outcomes quickly and manage increasingly complex classrooms. Many educators feel like they’re expected to be everything at once: teacher, mentor, support person, assessor and often without the tools or frameworks to stay grounded themselves.”
Her perspective is clear – education can no longer rely on a one-size-fits-all approach. Today’s educators need to be emotionally intelligent, resilient, self-aware and most importantly, human-centred.
“TAE Plus helps educators reconnect with the deeper purpose behind why they want to teach in the first place. The teachers we remember aren’t just skilled, they’re driven by something meaningful, and learners can feel that. They can feel when an educator is teaching from obligation versus teaching from purpose.”
Unlike traditional TAE programs, Cristina explains that TAE Plus nurtures the educator as a whole person – and helps them unlock their why. This gives educators direction and authenticity, becoming an anchor that helps them show up with clarity – especially if teaching feels challenging at times.
“When educators know their WHY, they don’t just teach units – they inspire growth.
And that’s what creates lasting impact. Traditional TAE programs tend to focus heavily on compliance – the system, the standards, the assessment requirements. TAE Plus still respects that structure, but it goes further.”
TAE Plus integrates coaching, wellbeing, reflective practice and educator identity development alongside accredited learning.
“It’s not just about producing qualified trainers, it’s about developing thriving and lasting educators. TAE Plus equips educators to show up authentically.”
“One of the core beliefs behind TAE Plus is that confidence isn’t something you wait for – it’s something you build through support, practice and self-awareness. This program helps educators develop presence, communication, boundaries and emotional regulation (the skills that allow you to lead a room calmly and effectively).”
The program’s combination of reflective frameworks, coaching and community support ensures educators can be real, grounded and human.
